Repurposing old items for the garden

As a hobby gardener once the snow starts melting I can hardly contain myself, my mind starts racing on all the new things I want to implement or improve or new projects I want to start. So I was really excited to finally start my Herb Garden this spring! Yay..you see I had another trick up my sleeve 😈.. I had picked up some old gift baskets that someone was throwing out. Now I know this isn’t something new… I have seen this before. I just love the look of the basket and the natural beauty of the plants themselves which brings a timeless look and a certain nostalgia to any home. Besides the fact that this makes it super easy to bring your plants indoors for colder climates. Here is how my Herb Garden came out.

I started by first cutting off the handles of the baskets, you can keep them if you wish, than I reused the soil bag to line the basket, keep in mind the plastic is perforated. And plant to your hearts desire….

Here is my finished Herb Garden, I love how they came out and bonus…they’re easily movable. So you will be able to keep your herbs overwinter or have them indoors for fresh herbs anytime!

Best watering method for Tomatoes

#beginnergardening #gardentips #gardentomatoes #tomatoes #gardening #deepwateringmethod

Hey there just thought I would talk about some different & easy watering methods for tomatoes. I have used the traditional ways of watering either by hose or sprinkler, and one day I came across this method; the Deep watering method and I put it to use. It’s so simple and it’s also a way to recycle your two liter bottles. Tomatoes like to take water in through their root system often when watering with the traditional method the leaves can yellow and burn. So here’s how to do this and like I said I have tried this and will continue to use this method and as a result you will have healthier plants as well!

Ok so grab your 2 liter bottle and poke holes in it,now keep in mind that the more holes you have the faster it will drain so if your not going for that and want a slow drip create less holes all around the bottle now plant this in between your plants I suggest 1 bottle per plant and place in ground when your planting your tomatoes so the young roots get used to retrieving the water underground. Do no replace the cap,and when it’s time to water you fill the bottle that you have planted!Nice 👍 right! Using this Deep watering method will ensure that your tomatoes are getting the water they need as sometimes the traditional way isn’t enough depending on the conditions.I also have done some research on if it was healthy to be planting plastic bottles next to my vegetables and all the water bottles and soda bottles do not contain BPA’s according to the facts about bpa.org website.
